BREAKING: Kareem Garcia reportedly shot dead in Cotton Tree

By Breaking Belize News Staff: A man identified as Kareem Garcia of Unitedville Village was reportedly shot and killed in Cotton Tree Village, Cayo District, late Monday morning.

Information reaching Breaking Belize News indicates that police have secured the scene and blocked traffic along the George Price Highway on the outskirts of Cotton Tree Village as investigators process the area.

Sources have also identified Garcia as the stepson of Kevin Trapp of Unitedville. Preliminary information suggests the shooting may be connected to ongoing violence in the Unitedville area; however, police have not yet confirmed a motive or established any such connection.

Garcia and Trapp were previously named together in a June 2026 police operation in Unitedville. Police reported that Garcia, Trapp and three other people were jointly charged with keeping an unlicensed firearm and ammunition after SPU officers found a .22-calibre pistol loaded with five rounds at a residence.

Trapp himself survived a shooting in November 2025, when police said he was ambushed near the Unitedville Community Centre while arriving home.

Police have not yet released an official report on Monday’s killing. This is a developing story and will be updated as more information becomes available.
