By Zoila Palma: Cabinet met on September 2, 2026, and approved the introduction of regulations to establish a digital Electrical Workers Register and a searchable public verification system.
The new framework will introduce a class-based licensing system for electrical workers, along with clear application procedures designed to ensure that workers maintain the required level of competence in the field.
The regulations will also provide for supervised apprenticeships, continuing competency requirements and public electronic verification, allowing members of the public to verify the status of licensed electrical workers.
Cabinet said the framework will also establish clearer administrative and disciplinary procedures while providing transitional measures to ensure continuity for existing electrical workers as the new system is implemented.
