Cattle export earnings surge by $1.6 million in July

By Zoila Palma:  Belize recorded a significant increase in earnings from formal cattle exports in July 2026, with revenues rising by $1.6 million compared to the same month last year, according to the Statistical Institute of Belize (SIB).

Cattle export earnings increased from $0.9 million in July 2025 to $2.4 million in July 2026, marking a substantial gain despite an overall decline in Belize’s domestic export performance during the month.

The increase in cattle earnings was one of the notable bright spots in the latest external trade figures.

Other commodities that recorded gains included bananas, which increased slightly from $6.2 million to $6.3 million, while animal feed exports rose from $0.5 million to $0.7 million, supported by improved export prices.
