*CBS is continuing its investment in daytime storytelling with a major renewal for “Beyond the Gates.” The network confirmed that the drama will remain on air for two additional seasons, securing its place in the lineup through the 2027–2028 broadcast year, Variety reports.
The announcement was made during CBS’s fall schedule presentation in Los Angeles. Since its debut in 2025, the show has stood out for both its timing and cultural significance within the daytime television landscape.
“Beyond the Gates” is developed and produced by the CBS Studios/NAACP Venture, led by Sheila Ducksworth, in partnership with P&G Studios, a division of Procter & Gamble. This marks the first-ever one-hour Black daytime soap and the first daytime drama to premiere since “Passions” in 1999. Michele Val Jean is the creator, executive producer and showrunner alongside executive producers Ducksworth, Robert Guza Jr., Julie Carruthers, Leon W. Russell, Derrick Johnson, Kimberly Doebereiner and Anna Saalfeld.
The series is set in a leafy Maryland suburb just outside of Washington, D.C., and in one the most affluent African American counties in the United States. At the center of this community are the Duprees, a powerful and prestigious multi-generational family that is the very definition of Black royalty. But behind these pristine walls and lush, manicured gardens are juicy secrets and scandals waiting to be uncovered. And those that live outside these gates are watching closely.
The cast features Tamara Tunie and Clifton Davis as family leaders Anita and Vernon Dupree, supported by an ensemble that brings the fictional world of Fairmont Crest to life.
The renewal news was shared directly with the cast and crew during filming, turning the moment into a celebration on set. Angela Fairley, who portrays Deanna McBride, shared a clip on Instagram, writing, “2 more years – BTG RENEWED.” RhonniRose Mantilla, who plays Chelsea, also shared her excitement on Instagram: “NOT ONE BUT TWOOOOOOO

what a gift. Yall stickin with us?? Keep watching, and if you’re new, welcome. We’ll give ya a show
,” she posted.
