This June marks the 27th Pride Month, whose origins date back to the Stonewall Uprising on June 28th, 1969, after a police raid at the Stonewall Inn. A year later, on June 28th, 1970, the first Gay Pride Liberation March took place in Manhattan to celebrate the uprising’s first anniversary. Since then, the LGBTQ Pride movement has taken hold as one of New York’s most important sociopolitical blocs. But Pride Month is about more than the annual Gay Pride parade. Numerous events will be taking place around the Five Boroughs. Here’s a brief list of some of them:

Friday, Jun. 5

Time: 7:00 p.m. – 11:00 p.m.

Host: The Bronx Museum of the Arts and Recess

Location: The Bronx Museum of the Arts

To kick off their First Friday Summer Series for 2026, The Bronx Museum of the Arts will host an after-hours celebration to honor Pride Month with Recess, a social community that creates spaces for Queer and Trans People of Color. Music will be provided by Master Copy, a genre-fluid DJ collective that consists of Philip Morgan, DOLLNXTDOOR, and Byrell the Great. Complimentary drinks will be provided by Ten To One Rum (while supplies last), along with additional refreshments. The Bronx Museum of the Arts’ galleries will remain open late so guests can experience their critically acclaimed exhibition, “The Seventh AIM Biennial: Forms of Connection.” The event is for adults 21+, is free to attend, and you can reserve your spot through Eventbrite.com.

Anyone Comics is hosting its 6th annual Brooklyn Pride Comic Book Fair. The lineup features Queer comic creators such as Priya Huq (“5-Minute Marvel,” “The Nib”), Bradley Clayton (“Monsters in Love,” “Killer Queens”), Amy Reeder (“Moon Girl and Devil Dinosaur,” “Amethyst”), Kevin Alvir (“Lisa Cheese and the Ghost Guitar”), MK Trahan, and more. The Brooklyn Pride Comic Book Fair highlights LGBTQ and Brooklyn-based artists. The event is free to attend, and wearing masks is strongly encouraged. You can reserve your spot on Eventbrite.com.

Location: 37th Avenue, Jackson Heights, Queens, NY

The NY LGBT Network is celebrating its 34th anniversary of its annual Queens Pride Parade and Multicultural Festival. It’s a day filled with celebration, entertainment, and being in community with one another. The parade is free to attend. Host: American Museum of Natural History and The American LGBTQ+ Museum

Location: Enter at 81st Street, between Central Park West and Columbus Avenue

The American Museum of Natural History and The American LGBTQ+ Museum are teaming up to host “Pride Night at the Museum: Forces of Nature event,” celebrating queer creativity and climate science. Focusing on fast fashion’s impact on climate change, the celebration will feature drag performances from Pattie Gonia, VERA!, and Sequoia, scientific insight, and sustainable designs. There will be a live DJ set, lectures on fashion and sustainability, contributing to a communal art installation, and more. The event is for ages 21+, and drink tickets will be available for purchase on-site. Tickets to attend are $30 for the general public and $25 for members. Whitney Day and House of Yes are hosting a Brooklyn Pride celebration event. It will feature a NYC DJ lineup including BABEITSPURR, DJ M.K., Dawson, and Whitney Day themselves, two rooms with two vibes, live performances, and more. The Brooklyn Art Haus is teaming up with culture and arts collective Yalla! Party Project to host the Brooklyn Pride Yalla. Host: The Billie Holiday Theatre & Rooted Theater Company, sponsored by Brooklyn.org

The Billie Holiday Theatre & Rooted Theatre Company will be hosting its third annual The House of Rooted Festival Pride Month Celebration. Sponsored by The Brooklyn Org, this showcase will focus on new work that centers LGBTQ voices through contemporary storytelling, performances, and deep human narratives. NYC Pride will be hosting a carnival-style Youth Pride for LGBTQ youth, their families, and allies. This year’s theme is “For All of Us,” which focuses on empowering and educating queer youth through different queer- and gender-affirming resources and activities. NYC Pride is inviting everyone to participate in its annual celebration of love, community and acceptance during its annual march. Millions are expected to participate.  Dominique Jackson, Peppermint, Bernie Wagenblast, Bowen Yang, and Gays Against Guns will serve as Grand Marshals this year. “Our Grand Marshals have blazed trails and opened doors in entertainment, media, and advocacy,” said NYC Pride Executive Director Im Lynde said in a statement. “Their visibility alone is worth celebrating, but they are fighting for opportunity, support, and safety for our entire LGBTQIA+ community.”
