Dairy industry stakeholders participate in training in Honduras

By Zoila Palma:  Dairy Industry stakeholders are currently on a training visit to El Zamorano, Honduras.

Former Minister of Agriculture Jose Abelardo Mai said that the crosses of Gir and Holstein and Guzzerat and Holstein appears to be the best choice for Belize’s conditions.

“Preparations for Embryo Transfers or young heifers is now being considered.

This addresses the matter of improved genetics to enhance productivity,” Mai explained.

The visit in Honduras addresses the matter of improved quality of Dairy products: milk, cheese, cream, yogurt, ice cream among other products including powder milk.

Mai congratulated participants of the training and expressed gratitude to IICA for partnering with the Ministry of Agriculture in this initiative.

“Thanks to the personnel of the Ministry of Agriculture for pursuing this initiative,” Mai expressed.
