Executive Turntable: BET Announces First-Ever Board With Queen Latifah, LL Cool J & More
Other hires and promotions within the music industry took place at Disney Music Group, Sound Royalties and Amazon Music.

For the first time in its 46-year history, BET has formed a Board of Advisors. The company’s board was established under the leadership of Louis Carr, president of BET, and will serve as a strategic and cultural soundboard.
Named to the new board of advisors includes Bob Johnson (founder, BET), Queen Latifah, LL Cool J, Troy Vincent (executive vp of football operations, National Football League), Raymond J. McGuire (president, Lazard) and George Cheeks (chair, TV media, Paramount). Together, the members of the board will help drive BET to remain at the intersection of media, community and culture.
According to a press release, the new board will “serve as a strategic and cultural sounding board, offering insight, perspective and accountability as BET expands its reach and continues to champion the voices and stories that move the culture forward.”
“BET has always been more than a platform,” Carr said in a statement. “It is a cultural institution with a responsibility to serve, reflect and advance our community. As we enter into this next chapter, this Board brings together leaders whose influence, perspective and integrity will help ensure we continue to honor that responsibility while building what comes next.”
BET remains owned by Paramount. While Paramount Global had been shopping the brand around, Paramount Skydance CEO David Ellison said he had no plans to sell the brand. BET also operates FAST channels, digital content production and live events.
Over the last 45 years, BET has remained a cultural institution for the Black community. The BET Media Group, a unit of Paramount, has a portfolio that includes BET, BET Her, BET Studios and VH1 along with FAST channels including BET Tyler Perry Comedy, BET Tyler Pery Drama, BET Comedy Movies, BET Cinema and BET Throwbacks.
