North Birmingham Regional Library is just one of many Birmingham Public Library locations helping residents improve their health through free fitness and wellness programs.
Among the opportunities available are:
Wednesdays, Thursdays and Fridays, 9:30–10 a.m., North Birmingham Regional Library: Since launching in February 2024, Slide City Chair Aerobics has become one of North Birmingham Regional Library’s most popular health and wellness programs. Set to upbeat music from a variety of genres, the free 30-minute class welcomes beginners and experienced fitness enthusiasts alike.
Mary’s Chair Aerobics
Tuesdays and Thursdays, 10–11 a.m., West End Branch Library: Chair aerobics exercise class offered twice a week.
Senior Exercise Class at Memorial Park
Fridays, 10:45–11:30 a.m.: presented by the Titusville Branch Library and featuring easy-to-follow line dances led by instructor Tracy Williams.
The Morning Line Up (Line Dancing)
North Birmingham Regional Library, Fridays, 10–11 a.m.: Participants enjoy lively, upbeat line dances designed to get everyone moving. “Let’s wake up the world with our bright and cheerful line dances!”
Line Dancing — East Ensley Branch Library
Second and fourth Fridays, 1–2 p.m., led by Tracy Williams: Learn the latest line dance moves or get in shape on old hit line dances.
Chair Yoga — Springville Road Regional Branch Library
Wednesdays, 10:30–11:30 a.m., led by Sanovia Muhammad: Learn chair yoga exercises you can try at home.
Chair Yoga with Erin Williams — Five Points West Regional Branch Library
2nd & 4th Wednesdays, 10:30–11:30 a.m.: Relax through simple chair yoga exercises.
Line Dancing with Mary Webb — Five Points West Regional Branch Library
1st & 3rd Monday each month at 11:30 a.m. (upcoming dates July 20, Aug. 3, Aug. 17): Whether you’re a beginner or already know a few steps, this class is a fun way to stay active while meeting new people.
Chair Aerobics with Ms. Myra
1st and 3rd Wednesday each month: Relax by learning simple chair aerobics exercises.
