International News: Mexico slams US ‘Interference’ after visa revoked for Ex-President’s son

By Zoila Palma:  Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum has criticized the United States government’s decision to revoke the visa of Andrés Manuel López Beltrán, son of former Mexican President Andrés Manuel López Obrador, calling the move interference in Mexico’s domestic politics.

“This amounts to interference in Mexican politics,” Sheinbaum said on Friday, adding that she could see no other reason for the US decision.

López Beltrán, 39, confirmed the visa revocation on social media, describing it as a “crude and perverse act” by US State Department officials.

In an open letter addressed to US President Donald Trump, López Beltrán accused American officials of targeting him for political and propaganda reasons.

He specifically criticized Secretary of State Marco Rubio and argued that there was no justification for what he described as “arrogant behaviour.”

The visa decision comes amid reports that several members of Mexico’s ruling Morena party have also had their US visas revoked in recent months.
