Jesse House repeated as champions while seven records were broken when Leon Hess Comprehensive Secondary School held its track meet at Mindoo Phillip Park.
Jesse compiled a massive 1,066 points, leaving Bourne far behind on 839 when competition finished on February 24. Ellis were third on 739, followed by Leon on 718.
Jn Dave Forde led a Jesse sweep with Ty Richie in the 400m junior boys, clocking 1:10, then took the 200m in 27.5 seconds, ahead of Jesse Joseph. But Joseph turned the tables to win the 100m in 13.4 seconds for Leon. Richie, second in the 400m, took gold in the 800m in 2:48.8, and added 1200m gold in 5:12.5. Joseph’s prowess in field events allowed him to join a three-way split for the victor ludorum title. Jesse won the 4x100m and 4x400m in the junior boys division.
Road race winner Neah Mortley dominated the track among the junior girls. She won three gold medals for Jesse: the 400m in 1:13.6, 800m in 2:51.2, and 1200m in 5:01.9. Bourne’s Anjeanlic Fevrier won the 200m in 29.7, but was second to Rayjahnae Montoute of Ellis in the 100m. Montoute ran 13.6 for gold. Bourne won the 4×1 and Jesse the 4×4.
In the Intermediate 3 class, Tajiri Isidore was a triple champion for Jesse. He won the boys’ 100m in 12.4 seconds, the 200m in 26.0, and the 400m in 1:03.0. Tyler Tarapasade took the 800m in 2:40.3 for Ellis. And Teyon Leonce took the 1500m in 6:03.3 for Jesse.
Leon stood out in the Intermediate 2 girls. April St Rose ran 14.5 and 29.3 to win the 100m and 200m. Bourne’s Ariella Foster held off Neveyah Francois for the 400m crown, running 1:14.6 for gold. Francois, however, would go on to lead a Leon sweep of the 800m, running 3:16.1.
For the Intermediate 2 class, Bourne’s Dante Zephirin broke the only individual school record on the day, finishing the 200m in 24.4 seconds. Behind him was Kaleb Charles, who won the 100m in 12.3 seconds for Jesse. Djaniel St Luce paced a Leon quinella in the 400m, the race of the day. St Luce finished in 1:01.5, after crossing the finish line virtually neck and neck with the boys in second and third. 2025 400m winner Liam Noel won the 800m in 2:23.8 for Jesse, who also swept the relays.
Stepping up to Intermediate 2, Jayla Sayers and Anya Quinlan again did a Jesse 1-2 in the 800m and 1500m. Sayers ran 3:00.6 and 6:28.0 for double gold, then was second to Leon’s Annalee Clifford in the 400m. Clifford ran 1:13.1. Leon’s Kurwana Sealy topped the 100 with a 14.1-second run, with housemate Mia Serrette winning the 200m in 29.3. Bourne took the 4×1 and Leon the 4×4.
J’Lani Mitchell effortlessly stepped up to the senior division. He won the senior 100m in 12.0 and 200m in 24.7 for Ellis. Jayden George ran 57.2 in the 400m for Leon, Joshua Ermay ran 2:24.6 to take the 800m for Jesse, and Shaquan Xavier ran 5:10.5 in the 1500m for Leon. Ellis swept the relays.
Zamaria Hinkson carried her DII dominance into the senior ranks, winning the 100m and 200m in 13.8 and 28.3 for Ellis. Akaiah Weeks, the defending 800m champion, won the 400m (1:05.5), 800m (2:44.7), and 1500m (6:42.0) for Jesse, who also won both relays.
