On Thursday, August 20, police formally arrested and charged 25-year-old Kemp Roy Gamboa Mena, a Belizean labourer of Belize City, with attempted murder, use of deadly means of harm and dangerous harm. The charges stem from the August 3 shooting of McKoy in San Ignacio Town.
According to previous reports, 30-year-old McKoy was shot multiple times shortly before 7:40 p.m. on Collins Boulevard. Police said McKoy had driven onto the boulevard when occupants of a parked vehicle allegedly opened fire on his vehicle.
