Ten precious souls who have long been exposed to harsh storms and icy nights in Khayelitsha will soon get to sleep deeply, dream sweetly, and stay beautifully warm in kennels to call their own!
Khayelitsha, South Africa (20 May 2026) – In Khayelitsha, there are still far too many dogs without proper shelter to protect them from the harsh storms and icy nights. It is a common and heartbreaking sight to see a dog shivering through a heavy downpour, huddled against a rusted fence with nowhere to escape the biting wind.
But for as long as there are still animal heroes championing their safety and welfare, there is still hope for these vulnerable animals.
Thanks to a generous donation of 10 beautiful kennels from The Gem Project Sanctuary to Mdzananda Animal Clinic, lovingly built by the volunteers from The Collinson Group, 10 furbabies will soon get to experience the cosiness of their own little abodes. No more cold ground, no more hiding from the rain – just pure comfort, safety, and peace of mind.
“These kennels are going to make a life-changing difference for animals in the Khayelitsha community, helping to keep them dry, safe and warm throughout the cold winter months ahead,” shares the Mdzananda Animal Clinic.
The generous donation will allow many vulnerable dogs who rely so heavily on Mdzananda’s help to have a safe place to sleep.
“It truly takes a village to save the lives of helpless animals, and we are endlessly grateful for the incredible village standing beside us every step of the way. Thank you, The Gem Project Sanctuary and the Collinson Group – your kindness and compassion know no bounds.”
