Knicks Fans Fear Donald Trump Could Jinx NBA Finals Run
The Knicks are two wins away from a championship, but Donald Trump's surprise appearance at Madison Square Garden has fans screaming "Jinx!"
Donald Trump might be the most powerful man in America, but can he beat the dreaded Knicks jinx?
That is the question floating around New York City as the Knicks head into Game 3 of the NBA Finals with a commanding 2-0 lead over the San Antonio Spurs. The city is buzzing. The fans are dreaming. Madison Square Garden is ready to explode. Then came the curveball nobody asked for: President Donald Trump.
Now, before anybody starts firing off angry emails, this is not politics. This is basketball superstition. And if you’ve ever followed the Knicks, you know superstition is practically part of the team culture.
Trump has officially accepted an invitation from Knicks owner James Dolan (Wink Wink) and will attend Game 3 at Madison Square Garden. That alone would have been enough to dominate headlines. But his presence is creating a ripple effect that stretches far beyond courtside seats.
The Secret Service has transformed the Garden experience into something closer to an airport terminal. Fans are being told to arrive at least two hours early. There are enhanced screenings, street closures, and a strict no-bag policy. Popular outdoor watch parties around the arena have reportedly been shut down, including fan gathering spots that have become part of the Finals atmosphere.

In other words, the vibe has changed.
Some fans are frustrated because what should have been a citywide celebration now comes with checkpoints, restrictions, and headaches. Others are worried about something far less practical.
The basketball gods.
You already know how this works. A team gets hot. Everything is rolling. Then something unusual happens and suddenly fans start looking for signs. Social media is already filled with jokes, memes, and predictions that Trump’s appearance could somehow disrupt the Knicks’ momentum.
Even Stephen A. Smith previously suggested the President might want to stay away from the game altogether. Apparently, he does not gaf about what SAS thinks.
The Spurs have absolutely nothing to lose. Down 2-0, their backs are against the wall. Teams tend to play with maximum urgency when they got everything to gain. Add the pressure of a Finals crowd, Spike Lee, a presidential visit and simple pride, who will they be in Game 3?

Will Trump ruin the Knicks’ chance at a sweep? I am saying this is possible and, guess what, if they lose we know the answer.
Damn those luxury suites.
Game 3 is tomorrow night.
