Lesotho’s campaign in the Africa Cricket Association regional qualifying tournament in Abuja ended with a three-run defeat by Gambia, after the national side was bowled out for 109 in 19.5 overs while chasing 113.
Gambia made 112 for nine. The result left Lesotho fourth in the final standings, with one win from five matches and two points. Nigeria and Uganda secured the two places in the Africa Regional Final, according to the Lesotho Cricket Association (LCA).
Coach Dzikamai Mavhiko said the tournament exposed the limits facing the team, including a lack of a dedicated cricket ground and the difficulty of competing against sides whose players can commit to the game full-time. He said sustained investment in facilities and player development would be needed to close the gap.
The LCA said the team had shown promise during the campaign but would need to build on the experience as it prepares for future international fixtures.
