Matty Healy Jammed With a 1975 Cover Band at His Bachelor Party Ahead of Wedding to Model Gabbriette Bechtel
In videos of the wild event, the band's lead singer can be seen singing to "Sex" and "The Sound" backed by the 9075.
Some guys go to bars, a favorite fishing spot, or hire adult entertainment for their bachelor parties. Not The 1975 singer Matty Healy. According to video posted by fans, the lead singer of the English rock band got gassed up for his upcoming wedding to fiancée model Gabbriette Bechtel by hopping on the mic with the 1975 cover band 9075 to run through some of his group’s songs.
Rolling Stone UK reported that Healy hired the band for the recent party in Malibu, Calif., in which he can be seen hopping around to the strains of “The Sound” from his band’s 2016 sophomore album, I Like It When You Sleep, for You Are So Beautiful Yet So Unaware of It. At one point, Healy calls the cover band’s look-alike singer to jump on stage with him, with the doppelgänger busting some moves while pointing to Healy and encouraging the folks on the dance floor to sing along. Near the end, Healy give his twin a spin around.
In a second clip, Healy gets some help from his actual bandmate, drummer George Daniel, while he crowd-surfs to “Sex,” from the 1975’s 2013 self-titled debut studio album. Healy can be seen waving his arms as the crowd hoists him into the air while the cover band admirably keeps the party going and Daniel, dressed in a yellow shirt and wearing a pink cowboy hat, pogos around his vocalist. At press time, a spokesperson for the band had no additional comment on the footage.
It’s currently unknown when Healy, 37, is planning on marrying 28-year-old model Bechtel — who goes by Gabbriette professionally — after the pair got engaged in June 2024 after attending Charli xcx’s Brat listening party in Brooklyn. At the time, Bechtel shared the good news by posting a photo of her ring — a black gem surrounded by smaller diamonds — captioning the shot, “MARRYING THE 1975 IS VERY BRAT.”
