NBL Playoffs: Magic Stormers see off Pearl Queens to reach semifinals

Magic Stormers have qualified for the semifinals back-to-back after seeing off newbies Pearl Queens in the National Basketball League quarterfinal playoffs.

Magic Stormers secured a well-deserved 65-54 victory against Pearl Queens in the NBL encounter at Abja Park, Nalya on Wednesday.

It was a 2-1 series lead for Magic Stormers in the best-of-three series. Pearl Queens levelled the series after going down in game one but lacked the edge in the final push.

The Stormers came out of the blocks early, limiting the Pearl Queens to only five points in the opening frame, which gave them a nine-point advantage at the end of the quarter.

In the second quarter, the Stormers kept the foot on the gas pedal, cruising as they extended the lead to 18 points (36-18) before the long break.

Despite a better show in the second and third quarters, the Stormers held on smartly to bag an 11-point victory.

Eve Grace Namuli managed a double-double, scoring 15 points and making 13 rebounds. Susan Eben, Kur Ajah and Daphine Adong joined the party, dropping 16, 15 and 14 points respectively.

On the other side of the court, Jane Chisome Irielle recorded a double-double, scoring 10 points and making 13 rebounds. Rose Adhiambo and Djenabo joined the fight with 14 and 11 points respectively.

In the best-of-five semifinal playoffs, Magic Stormers will take on the top-seeded JT Lady Jaguars in a highly anticipated encounter.
