By Zoila Palma: Today, the La Loma Luz NHI Clinic opened its door.
Councilor Aaron Mai explained that through NHI, patients are able to consult with a General practitioner for only $2.
“Pregnant women and elderly 65 and over enjoy the service for free. Labs, ultrasound, procedures, all free to them.
Services covered under the program are: general medicine, OB/Gyn, pediatric, internal medicine, nutritionist,” Mai explained.
In addition, some services are offered at a percentage of the original cost and NHI covers the balance.
“The service, sponsored and paid for by the government, is designed to ensure Belizean’s have access to free primary healthcare. This makes a healthier Belize for you and I. Let’s take advantage of the services. You can reach out to the clinic at: 635-5671,” Mai added.
The public is encouraged to take advantage of these healthcare services.
