NW woman found dead on street following alleged dog mauling

North West police have launched an investigation in Klerksdorp after an unidentified woman was allegedly mauled to death by dogs.

A local resident on his way to work discovered the body in Magaretha Prinsloo Street during the early hours of Friday morning. Emergency medical services rushed to the scene but declared the woman, believed to be in her thirties, dead upon arrival.

The SPCA has since removed eight dogs from a nearby property and euthanised them.

North West police spokesperson Colonel Adéle Myburgh says circumstances surrounding the tragedy remain unclear, and police are appealing for any eyewitnesses or information to help identify the deceased.

“Consequently, an inquest docket has been registered and investigations into the matter are continuing. Anyone with information that can assist the police with investigations or help identify the deceased, is requested to contact the Klerksdorp detective branch commander, Col JC Scholtz on 0825780187 or the nearest police station. Information can also be reported anonymously via crime stop on 08600 10111 or via the MYSAPS app.”
