Opposition Leader urges Belizeans to speak up: “Silence makes us complicit”

By Zoila Palma:  Today, Leader of the Opposition Tracy Panton issued a statement urging Belizeans to actively participate in the processes that shape the future of Belize.

“The government we have, the society we live in, and the circumstances we must navigate too often are what we have been conditioned to embrace without question.  Who we are today lays the foundation for who we become tomorrow. It is therefore critically important that we carefully examine what is before us and ask the difficult questions on ALL matters that impact our nation,” Panton said.

Panton added that “we cannot afford to be complacent nor can we allow our silence to make us complicit. Our participation and our contributions matter. They matter BIG time. Change does not always require lofty undertakings or grand gestures.”

In addition, Panton said that every Belizean has a role to play.

“The future is not something that simply happens to us. We, the people, help to shape it, to mold it, to build it. So when it is required, as it is now, we are called to Stand Up, Speak Out,” she expressed.
