Out Of Africa: Serial Bridges Accra Is Inviting Applications From West African TV Creators

Serial Bridges Accra, a mentorship and training programme focused on supporting TV series creators in West Africa, is now calling for applications.

The programme is led by The Writers Room and the French Embassy in Ghana, in partnership with Series Mania Institute, as part of the Creation Africa Ghana initiative. Delivered in English, the six-month programme includes workshops, masterclasses and networking events designed to support the TV sector.

Applications are open to creators who are citizens of the following countries: Ghana, Togo, Benin, Nigeria, Ivory Coast, Sierra Leone, Guinea, Senegal, Gambia and Cameroon.

To qualify as a writer or showrunner, applicants must have either:

– Written at least a pilot script of a drama or web series series
– Be credited as writer or director of a feature or short film shown at a festival and/or released in theatres.

To qualify as a “producer”, the candidate must have either:

– Produced at least one drama series, broadcast on a TV channel or streaming platform, or
– Produced a feature or short film shown at a festival or in movie theatres.
– The company must be based in the eligible countries.

Project eligibility

Projects submitted must meet the following requirements:

Category: Series only (TV movies, feature films, etc. will not be accepted)
Length: between 20 and 60 minutes per episode
Genre: fiction series only (animation and documentary series are not accepted)
Only original concepts for season 1 will be accepted. Remakes of foreign or domestic series, season 2s or series already broadcast will not be accepted. The project must have an international potential.

How to apply?

– Applications may only be submitted by teams. Individual applications are not accepted.
– Only applications in English will be accepted. To participate in the selection process, applications must be submitted online via the dedicated web page (Submissions by e-mail, post or any other means will not be accepted).
When applying, each team must provide the following elements at once (as it is not possible to save and return to your application) :
- (i) A pre-bible (5 page maximum) of the series
  - (ii) A one-sentence presentation of the series (“logline”)
  - (iii) A synopsis of the season
  - (iv) A description of its narrative arcs and characters
  - (v) A writer’s statement.
- (vi) A CV outlining the professional experience of each team member.
