Police have intensified the search for two-year-old Asanda Ndhlovu, who was allegedly kidnapped at Meikles Mall in Bulawayo on Tuesday morning.
Asanda had accompanied her mother to her workplace when she went missing at around 10:30am.
According to police, CCTV footage from the mall captured an unidentified male suspect wearing a brown hooded jacket and blue work-suit trousers carrying the child and leaving the area.
Bulawayo police spokesperson Inspector Nomalanga Msebele appealed to members of the public to assist with information that could help locate the toddler. Anyone with information is urged to contact the child’s family on 0718333182 or 0777949816, or report to the nearest police station.
“The suspect’s face was not visible. The missing child was wearing a pink jersey and blue jean trousers and was barefoot.
“A police report was filed, leading to the launch of a manhunt,” said Msebele.
The family has pleaded with the public to assist in ensuring Asanda’s safe return.
Asanda’s aunt, Sandisiwe Sibanda, told a local paper, “We have been to every possible place and spoken to countless people, but there is still no trace of her. We are desperate for anyone who might know something to come forward. Every lead, no matter how small, could make a difference.”

“We are asking the public to stay alert, check their surroundings and report anything that might help. Time is critical, and we cannot give up hope.”
