*Lifetime is set to premiere a new original thriller, “Don’t Trust the Girls Upstairs,” starring two-time Grammy-nominated artist Remy Ma, with the film scheduled to debut on June 20 at 8/7c.
The project places Remy Ma in the role of Ashley Preston, a woman whose life is disrupted after the sudden death of her estranged sister. Seeking stability during a period of grief and uncertainty, Ashley and her husband Elliot welcome her teenage niece Serena into their home, hoping to offer support and a fresh start, per the synopsis.
What begins as an act of compassion quickly shifts into suspicion as unexplained and increasingly unsettling events begin to unfold inside the household. Ashley finds herself questioning whether Serena is acting out due to emotional trauma or whether another family member, including her own daughter Luna, may be hiding something more troubling beneath the surface. As tension builds, the situation inside the home becomes more volatile, forcing Ashley to confront growing distrust and uncertainty about those closest to her.
As the disturbances escalate, Ashley is pushed toward uncovering the truth before the situation turns dangerous. The film builds around shifting suspicions within a family structure strained by grief, past trauma, and competing narratives about what is really happening behind closed doors.
“Don’t Trust the Girls Upstairs” is based on the book “My Sister’s Daughter” by Liv Constantine and is produced for Lifetime with executive production from Kara Feifer and Elisabeth Rohm of Rohm Feifer Entertainment. The company has previously collaborated with the network on multiple projects, including titles such as “The Dating App Killer: The Monica White Story,” “Wife Stalker,” and “Husband, Father, Killer: The Alyssa Pladl Story.”
Rohm Feifer Entertainment’s Elisabeth Rohm has also directed several Lifetime films, including “Devil on Campus: The Larry Ray Story,” “Girl in Room 13,” “Switched Before Birth,” and “Girl in the Basement.”
The film is produced by Navid Soofi for Studio TF1 America Inc. in association with Rohm Feifer Entertainment, with David Weaver directing from a screenplay written by Crystal Verge.
