The Proteas fast bowler enjoyed another outstanding season in India, finishing as the IPL’s leading wicket-taker and becoming a two-time Purple Cap winner.
India (03 June 2026) – Kagiso Rabada has added another major achievement to his already impressive career, finishing as the leading wicket-taker in the 2026 Indian Premier League and claiming the coveted Purple Cap.
The South African fast bowler enjoyed a brilliant season for the Gujarat Titans, taking 29 wickets in 17 matches to end the tournament at the top of the wicket-taking charts. The IPL is known for attracting some of the world’s best players, Rabada once again rose above the competition and delivered when it mattered most.
Rabada pulled clear of his closest challengers during the knockout stages, once again proving why he remains one of the most feared fast bowlers in world cricket. His performances helped Gujarat Titans enjoy another strong campaign while reinforcing his reputation as a big-match player.
The achievement marks the second time Rabada has won the Purple Cap, having first claimed the award in 2020 while representing Delhi Capitals. That season, he took 30 wickets, and although he fell just short of that tally this year, his 29 wickets were enough to make him the standout bowler of the tournament.
His latest success places him among an elite group of bowlers to have won the Purple Cap more than once and further strengthens his legacy as one of South Africa’s greatest T20 cricketers.
Having already established himself as one of the leading fast bowlers of his generation, Rabada’s latest Purple Cap serves as another reminder of his consistency, skill and ability to perform under pressure.
