Safal Uganda Baati Technical Training Institute in Tororo, eastern Uganda has received a donation of 30 computers aimed at strengthening its ICT infrastructure, expanding access to digital learning resources and enhancing students’ preparedness for higher education and the job market.

The computers were donated by the Angaza Centre Foundation in Tororo district to the Safal Uganda Baati Foundation during a ceremony attended by a high-level delegation from Kenya’s Mabaati Rolling Mills (MRM) Foundation.

The donation comes at a time when digital literacy is increasingly recognised as a critical component of educational achievement, innovation and participation in the modern economy.

Speaking at the handover ceremony, Jackie Tahakanizibwa, the head of corporate and external affairs at Uganda Baati Limited, said the initiative demonstrates the foundation’s commitment to using education as a catalyst for social and economic transformation.

“At the Safal Uganda Baati Foundation, we recognize that access to technology is no longer a luxury but a necessity. By providing these computers, we are creating an enabling environment for students to develop the digital competencies needed to thrive in today’s knowledge-based economy. We are proud to partner with organisations that share our vision of empowering young people through education,” she said.

Tahakanizibwa noted that the foundation’s investments are intended to create lasting impact by providing opportunities that extend beyond immediate needs and contribute to sustainable community development.

She added that equipping learners with digital skills is essential in preparing them to compete effectively in an increasingly technology-driven world.

Education remains a key driver of social and economic transformation, and stakeholders say partnerships such as this play an important role in addressing resource gaps, strengthening institutions and equipping young people with relevant skills.

The Safal Uganda Baati Foundation said it will continue to expand its community programmes, focusing on initiatives that empower individuals, strengthen institutions and promote sustainable socio-economic development.
