Just when you thought Daniel “Hondo” Harrelson and his elite tactical team had maxed out their operational limits, they’ve officially broken free of broadcast television. The highly anticipated S.W.A.T. spinoff series, Exiles, has officially found a home.

Rather than returning to CBS or its streaming partner Paramount+, the new series will premiere exclusively on the premium cable and streaming network Starz this September 25.

While the original S.W.A.T. series has been celebrated for its action and community-focused storytelling, Exiles is taking the franchise down a darker path.

The spinoff follows a select group of former S.W.A.T. officers, led by Shemar Moore’s character, who find themselves pushed out of the traditional department structure. Labeled as “exiles” after exposing deep-seated corruption high up in the political food chain, the team is forced to operate in the gray spaces of the law.

Now working as an elite, off-the-books security and tactical unit, they tackle high-risk, international, and domestic operations that traditional law enforcement agencies cannot touch.

By removing the legal red tape and badge constraints of a standard metropolitan police department, Exiles allows Moore and his team to face complex moral dilemmas, brutal combat sequences, and long-form serial storytelling.

S.W.A.T. Exiles premieres on September 25 on Starz.
