State Fair Comes To Harlem With Free Festival On October 10

On October 10, 2026, Harlem Farms will bring agriculture from across New York State together with some of New York City’s leading urban agriculture organizations for a free event focused on agricultural education and food access. Held in Marcus Garvey Park, itself a former tract of New York farmland, the event will feature hands-on activities, demonstrations, food tastings and free distributions of farm-fresh produce. Activities will include the New York State Maple Producers Association’s Mobile Maple Experience and the interactive New York Soil Health trailer; live beehive demonstrations and honey samples from Bee Favored, a Black-owned and Harlem-founded rooftop apiary; a live root-to-fruit demonstration from Oko Farms; squash printing from artist collective Field Meridians; and a hands-on NY Sun Works hydroponics activity using discarded water bottles. Statements from Elected Officials Senator Cordell Cleare, Host Senator, 30th Senate District, said: “It is vital that we bring events like Harlem Farms to our community, and this is going to be an amazing day. Our community partners and vendors will showcase urban gardening and farm activities, share agricultural information, and provide grocery giveaways and access to fresh fruits and vegetables. We are promoting healthy lifestyles while encouraging independence and self-reliance by giving our community the knowledge to grow our own food in our local, accessible green spaces.”  Senator Michelle Hinchey, Chair of the Senate Agriculture Committee, said,  “Agriculture is all around us – from the food on our tables to the clothes on our backs. We’re incredibly excited to bring the first-ever ‘Harlem Farms’ event to Marcus Garvey Park, for local families to get to know this leading industry and how it connects us all as New Yorkers. We’ll have interactive exhibits and demonstrations, food samples, and the farmers, artisans, and organizations behind them. If you’re looking for a fun, free, family-friendly way to spend a fall Saturday, this event is for you!”  Senator George Borrello, Ranking Member of the Senate Agriculture Committee, said, “Agriculture remains one of New York’s most essential industries and a cornerstone of our state’s long-term food security. Agricultural Day in Harlem is an opportunity to highlight that importance and to expand access to agricultural education for young people and families. I’m grateful to join Senators Cleare and Hinchey in bringing hands-on learning to New York City. When we strengthen public understanding of farming, we strengthen our communities, our economy, and our ability to ensure that every New Yorker has access to fresh, reliable, locally produced food.”  WHEN:Saturday, October 10, 202611:00 AM – 4:00 PM WHERE:Marcus Garvey ParkMadison Avenue sideEnter at Madison Avenue and East 122nd Street WHO:New York State Senator Cordell CleareNew York State Senator Michelle Hinchey, Chair, Senate Agriculture CommitteeNew York State Senator George Borrello, Ranking Member, Senate Agriculture Committee
