Takalani Fakude Set to Champion a Greener Tomorrow on the Global Stage

University of the Western Cape’s own Takalani Fakude is proving that true style is sustainable, as he heads to the Philippines to represent South Africa and advocate for green initiatives!

Western Cape, South Africa (07 May 2026) – For a 23-year-old BCom Financial Accounting student, Takalani Fakude, balancing pageantry and academics requires discipline, time management, and consistency.

These are skills he’s refined impressively both as a student at the University of the Western Cape (UWC) and as the titleholder of Mr Bushbuckridge Ambassador 2025 and Mr Eco South Africa 2025.

His dedication and accomplishments have led him to an exciting new chapter, as he will soon jet off to the Philippines to compete on the global stage in the Mr Eco International 2026 pageant. There, he aims not only to represent South Africa with pride but also to champion a cause deeply meaningful to him: the environment.

In the Philippines, Takalani will join other environmental advocates at the Eco International pageant in June – a competition focused on environmental preservation and aimed at mentoring men who champion green initiatives.

The Bushbuckridge-born trailblazer plans to use the global stage to motivate others and drive positive change.

“I am deeply committed to using my voice and platform to inspire change while proudly representing South Africa.”

As he prepares for his big moment, Takalani is fully aware of the responsibility that comes with representing South Africa.

“This is bigger than me,” he reflected.

“It’s about showcasing the beauty, diversity and strength of our country, and proving that no matter where you come from, your dreams are valid.”

Beyond the runway, Fakude is also a dedicated student. After completing his studies, he plans to pursue a professional career in finance while continuing to use his platform to advocate for meaningful causes.

“I want to grow both personally and professionally, and create opportunities that allow me to make a lasting impact,” he said.

We wish him all the best as he represents our nation abroad and champions a greener and more sustainable future.
