The family of a 21-year-old man with sickle cell disease are urgently appealing for his return after he went missing six days ago. Francis Soares, 21, from North London was last seen in the early hours on Friday (August 27) in Tottenham, by his brother Daniel. Speaking to BlackNews.UK, Daniel Soares said his family are “concerned for Francis’ wellbeing because he has sickle cell and he didn’t take his medication with him.” He said: “I was the last person to see him before he ...vanished. I saw him at my mum’s home in Tottenham between 2am and 4am on Friday and he hasn’t been seen since.” The police said he’s an adult and he shouldn’t be reported as a missing person and found the initial response from the police unsatisfactory Mr Soares said his brother is an aspiring professional boxer and had been training regularly and worked two jobs to support his boxing career, before he went missing. He said: “When I last saw him he seemed flustered about something but I am not sure what.” Mr Soares said his brother had some “on-going personal issues” but was very focused on his career. Francis is described as a black male, approximately 6ft tall, with his hair in canerows/braids. According to his brother, he was last seen wearing Air Force trainers and a black t-shirt. Mr Soares said he initially filed a missing persons report at Tottenham Police Station and was left frustrated by the lack of urgency from the police. He said: “The police said he’s an adult and he shouldn’t be reported as a missing person and found the initial response from the police unsatisfactory.” The family are extremely concerned about his Francis’ health and condition as he has sickle cell and has “baby blood”. Mr Soares said: “I hope when the police find him they treat him like a human being and don’t use unreasonable force because it can have a detrimental impact on him because of his blood condition. “Francis can’t get hit by anyone or be physically manhandled because he has baby blood sickle cell, which basically means his blood is that of a baby.” The family were contacted about a possible siting of Francis near the Santander bank in Queen Square in Crawley, but are awaiting confirmation it is the 21-year-old. His brother said he has no ID, credit cards or money on him. “His phone rings and then it goes to voicemail,” he added. In a direct emotional plea to Francis, Mr Soares begged his brother to contact his family so they know he is safe. He said: “Bro, come home or contact me and let me know you are ok. Contact me on social media or use someone’s phone to contact me and we will find a way to get you home.” “Whatever you are going through there is no shame in it,” he added. Mr Soares revealed to The Voice, his entire family are “heartbroken” and his parents have been continuously praying for his brother’s safe return. His cousin Vini, has been using social media to raise awareness of his cousin’s disappearance. Vini told BlackNews.UK , it is out of character for Francis to not tell anyone where he is going. He said: “He has been so focused over the last couple of years and has been working hard to achieve his dream of becoming a boxer. His disappearance came out of the blue and is a shock to the entire family. Me and my mum haven’t really spoken about it too much because she’s been crying a lot.” Vini, 21, made a direct appeal to his cousin and said: “I want to remind him that he has people back home waiting for him and we will help him with whatever he is going through.” His brother Daniel is urging anyone with information to contact him directly on 07716261370 or via Facebook Daniel Soares or on Instagram using the handle @danieldaking_91 BlackNews.UK has contacted the Metropolitan Police for comment.
