The nonstop hop down to Port of Spain is one of the better Caribbean fares going right now — and it lands you in one of the region’s most underrated capitals.
It’s one of the most distinctive destinations in the Caribbean, a place where the food, the music and the rhythm of daily life feel like nowhere else in the region. And right now, it’s also one of the most affordable places to fly. You can get from Miami to Trinidad this summer for as little as $383 roundtrip, with travel from June 24 to June 28 — a window that puts you on the ground in the middle of one of the most dynamic urban scenes in the islands.
We found the fare on Google Flights, on the nonstop American Airlines route from Miami International Airport to Piarco International Airport, with the flight clocking in at right around three hours and 45 minutes. That’s a shorter ride than plenty of domestic flights out of Miami, and it deposits you straight into Port of Spain.
And this is a city worth the trip. Port of Spain is the pulsing heart of Trinidad and Tobago, a blend of culture, cuisine and Caribbean spirit that rewards anyone willing to look past the more familiar beach-and-resort circuit. This is the home of doubles, the curried-chickpea street-food staple that’s reason enough to book on its own, along with corn soup, Angostura and a Carnival culture that informs the city year-round.
It’s also a genuine gateway. From Port of Spain, you’re a short drive from Maracas Bay, the island’s most beloved beach and the spiritual home of bake and shark, while nearby Tobago offers a quieter, reef-fringed counterpoint just a quick hop away.
American Airlines is one of two carriers flying the route nonstop, alongside Trinidad’s own Caribbean Airlines, which has been steadily building up this corridor with eight weekly flights and double daily service on Thursdays and Sundays. That added capacity is part of what’s keeping fares like this one in reach heading into the busy summer season.
At $383, it’s one of the strongest values in the Caribbean this summer.
