Six Saint Lucians selected in Windwards U19 women’s squad

Six young players from Saint Lucia have been selected for the Windward Islands squad that is set to compete in the Cricket West Indies Rising Stars Women’s Under-19 Tournament this August in Trinidad & Tobago. Only one of them played in last year’s squad.

Since captain Natalia Phillip and West Indies Under-19 pacer Selena Ross are no longer eligible, Ammie Antoine will be among the more experienced players for the Windwards. Antoine and fellow bowler Gillia McLaurent were part of the Saint Lucia team that finished third in the senior Windward Islands Women’s T20 in January.

The other newcomers are Avannelle Leo, Brianna Marcellin, Morgan Octave and Emma Joseph. All four have taken part in the women’s youth development programmes run by the Saint Lucia National Cricket Association over the past two years.

West Indies Under-19 player Amiah Gilbert is likely to lead the Windwards team. Barbados won the 2025 West Indies Rising Stars Women’s Under-19 Championship, defeating the Leeward Islands by seven wickets in the final.
