Black Sash has been made aware of an email circulating under the name “Black Sash Collective” threatening demonstrations and calling for the cancellation of several Heritage Day events in and around Durban.
This email did not come from Black Sash. We have no connection to the group using the name “Black Sash Collective”, and we have not authorised the use of the Black Sash name.
Black Sash does not endorse or accept responsibility for the email’s threats, demands or content. The organisation has referred the matter to the relevant authorities and is taking steps in response to the unauthorised use of its name.
If you have received any threats to your event or venue, please report it directly to the authorities.
