Uganda Cranes defender Timothy Awany has completed a transfer to Bulgarian top-tier side Botev Plovdiv.

The former KCCA defender joins Botev Plovdiv after running down his injury at Israel’ Ashdod FC.

While at Ashdod, he played in seven campaigns and became a mainstay in the club’s squad proving that he is a good player.

The transfer was confirmed via the club’s official social media platforms on Monday noting he is the fourth addition to the squad.

“Timothy Avani is the fourth addition to Botev Plovdiv’s summer selection. The central defender signed a long-term contract with the Canaries,” the statement partly reads.

The 183-cm defender held his first training session with the “yellow and blacks’ today. Awani has so far 40 matches for the Uganda national team,” it added.

“Since the summer of 2019, Timothy has been part of the Israeli Ashdod, where he has become a club legend and has played 190 games.”

According to the club, Awany will wear the shirt number 20 at his new home.
