Two face blackmail and burglary charges after separate police investigations

Two men have appeared before the Magistrate’s Court after being charged in unrelated criminal cases involving alleged blackmail and burglary.

Chad Smith, 37, of Island Harbour, was charged with blackmail in connection with an alleged offence committed between 5 March 2024 and 1 January 2026.

He appeared before the magistrate on 3 July and was granted bail of EC$50,000 with one surety.

His bail conditions include reporting to police headquarters weekly, having no contact with the virtual complainant, not leaving Anguilla without court permission, and being of good behaviour.

Aldrin Carty, 45, of The Quarter was charged with burglary in connection with an incident which allegedly occurred on 8 June in West End.

He also appeared before the magistrate on 3 July and was released on his own recognisance, with bail set at $25,000.

His bail conditions include reporting to police headquarters weekly, not leaving Anguilla without the permission of the court, and being of good behaviour.
