Uganda, Tanzania face off in CECAFA U17 Women’s Championship final

Uganda and Tanzania will battle for glory in thw final of the 2026 CECAFA U17 Women’s Championshio slated for Tuesday at the KMC Stadium in Dar es Salaam at 3:30PM EAT.

The two teams come into the final on a deserving note given their performance right from the group stages.

Hosts Tanzania remain unbeaten and led group A on seven points, beating Somalia and Sudan before wrapping up group business with a draw against Kenya.

In the semifinals, Tanzania made light work of South Sudan, winning 4-0 to reach the final.

For Uganda on the other hand, they remain perfect, winning all their grpup games and yet to concede a goal at the tournament.

In the group phase, Uganda humiliated minnows Djibouti 13-0, defeated South Sudan 4-0 and overcame Zanzibar with a 3-0 result.

In the semifinals, Uganda beat rivals Kenya 3-0 to book a berth into the final.

Shadia Nabirye has been the outstanding player for the Teen Cranes, scoring in three of the four games and currently leads the scoring chart with six goals.

Kenya and South Sudan will face off in the third-place playoff shortly before the final.
