1. Qing Madi (Nigeria)
Born Chimamanda Pearl Chukwuma, Qing Madi is one of the most promising young voices coming out of Nigeria. Her early singles, including ‘See Finish’ and ‘Ole’, gained widespread attention across streaming platforms, helping her build a fast-growing audience among Gen-Z listeners.
2. Joshua Baraka (Uganda)
Joshua Baraka was born and raised in Bwaise, Kampala. In a 2024 interview, he shared that his music is a reflection of himself, his stories, and those of the people around him. His song, ‘Nana’, gained attention across East Africa, positioning him as one of the region’s rising voices.
3. Ayo Maff (Nigeria)
Ayo Maff, whose real name is Ayorinde Ayodele, has built steady grassroots popularity through street-pop releases that reflect everyday realities. He started music professionally in 2023 when he dropped his first two-pack single, ‘Jama Jama’ and ‘Another Day’.
4. Emma’s (Gabon)
Emmanuella Issembe, better known as Emma’a, is gaining attention within Francophone African markets. Her first EP, ‘Encré’, which includes a remix of the title track by French DJ Bob Sinclar, was released in 2022. Emma’s music blends Afro-pop with regional influences, helping expand Central Africa’s presence within continental music conversations.
5. FOLA (Nigeria)
Folarin Odunlami, professionally called FOLA, blends Afrobeats with pop and R&B. His music career was marked by his debut EP titled ‘What A Feeling’ in 2024. The EP includes collaborations with Bella Shmurda, Magixx, BNXN, and BhadBoi OML. Fola’s single ‘Alone’ charted well, reaching number 1 on Nigeria’s Official Streaming Songs chart.
6. Usimamane (South Africa)
Omuhleumnguni Simamane, simply called Usimamane, is a rapper and songwriter born and raised in Umlazi, Durban, in South Africa. His hit ‘Cheque’, which was released in 2024, made him a hot prospect in the emerging scene. The single was certified 3× platinum in South Africa.
7. Fave (Nigeria)
Chidozie Godsfavour Ugochinyere, known by her stage name Fave, continues to gain recognition through emotionally driven songwriting and steady collaborations. The singer won the ‘Rookie of the Year’ award at the Headies in 2022 and was nominated for the ‘Most Promising Artist’ award at the All Africa Music Awards.
8. King Paluta (Ghana)
Thomas Adjei Wireko, professionally called King Paluta, is gaining recognition for his rapping and production skills. He secured major wins at the Telecel Ghana Music Awards (TGMA), winning the ‘Best New Artist’ (2024) and the ‘Most Popular Song of the Year’ with his hit titled ‘Aseda’.
9. Llona (Nigeria)
Llona, born Michael Ajuma Attah, is steadily gaining recognition for his emotionally driven songs. His debut album ‘Homeless’ peaked at 11 on the Official Top 100 Albums turntable charts in Nigeria. Llona won the Next Rated Artist at the Galaxy Music Awards in 2025. He was also nominated for Rookie of the Year and Songwriter of the Year at the 17th Headies Awards.

Abigail Anthony Chamungwana, with the stage name Abigail Chams, is a talented singer and songwriter known for melodic, sing-along tracks which blend Bongo Flava, Afropop, and R&B. Signed to Sony Music Africa, Abigail Chams is regarded as one of the most promising musical talents in East Africa.
