AT approximately 6:24 a.m. on Sunday, April 12, West Vancouver Police received a report of a vehicle fire in the parking lot of the Har El Synagogue on Taylor Way. The fire was quickly extinguished. No injuries were reported, and no property damage occurred.

While the investigation is ongoing, WVPD say they would like to assure the community that there are no ongoing safety concerns related to this incident, and that the vehicle fire appears non-suspicious.

Available evidence indicates the car caught fire while travelling eastbound on Highway 1, and the driver took the first opportunity to stop the vehicle off the roadway. Investigators have determined that the incident is non-criminal in nature and that the synagogue was not targeted.

The West Vancouver Police Department thanked the public for their assistance.
