DAR ES SALAAM: YOUNG Africans returned to the top of the Mainland Premier League table after cruising to a convincing 3-0 victory over Singida Black Stars at KMC Complex in Dar es Salaam yesterday, as the title race against Simba continues to intensify with only six matches remaining.
A brace from Allen Okelo in the 14th and 69th minutes, alongside a strike from Mudathir Yahya just before half-time, secured an important win for the defending champions, who reclaimed the summit with 57 points from 24 matches. Simba sit closely behind on 55 points, having played the same number of games, setting up a thrilling finale to the championship battle.
Young Africans dominated proceedings from the opening whistle and wasted little time asserting their authority. Okelo opened the scoring in the 14th minute after capitalising on a wellworked free-kick routine to give his side an early advantage and set the tone for a one-sided encounter.
Singida Black Stars struggled to cope with the hosts’ attacking pressure despite a brief response through Emmanuel Kayeke’s free kick in the 21st minute, which was comfortably dealt with by Young Africans goalkeeper Diara.
The visitors remain on 38 points after 24 matches and continue to trail thirdplaced Azam FC, who have collected 46 points with a game in hand. Young Africans delivered a dominant performance in a one-sided encounter against Singida Black Stars, taking control of the match from the early stages and never looking back.

Following the early setback, Singida Black Stars made a surprising goalkeeping change in the 24th minute, with coach opting to substitute Metacha Mnata for Obasogie Amasin in an attempt to steady the side.
Young Africans continued to pile on the pressure and nearly doubled their lead in the 32nd minute when Pacome Zouzoua delivered a dangerous cross into the box, but Maxi Nzengeli’s header drifted narrowly wide. The second goal eventually arrived in the 40th minute.
Maxi produced a penetrating pass in search of Prince Dube, but the goalkeeper rushed off his line to clear the danger. However, the loose ball fell kindly to Mudathir Yahya, who calmly fired into the empty net to extend Young Africans’ lead to 2-0 before the break.
Young Africans added a third goal in the 69th minute as Allen Okelo struck brilliantly from outside the box after being set up by Laurindo Dilson, capping off another flowing attacking move from the dominant hosts.
