A.B. Quintanilla Joins Cazzu for a Rendition of Selena’s ‘Si Una Vez’: ‘I Was Blown Away’
The Argentine artist invited Selena's brother and musician on stage during her Latinaje Tour stop in Texas.
Cazzu continues making the rounds with her first-ever U.S. tour Latinaje, and recently made her pit stop in Texas.
At her show in San Antonio over the weekend, the Argentine artist not only crooned to fans with her gothic romance, fierce confidence and cultural pride, but she also surprised the crowd with a special guest who’s close to the Lone Star State: A.B. Quintanilla.
“Last night, I was invited to Cazzu’s show. She came all the way from Argentina,” Selena’s brother and renowned musician and songwriter expressed in an Instagram video posted May 9. “I didn’t know what to expect from the performance, but they gave me a special spot to watch it. To be honest, I was blown away by the high-quality production Cazzu put together for her show.”
Not only did Quintanilla enjoy the concert, which he described as a theatrical film full of Argentine flavor, but he joined Cazzu on stage for a rendition of Selena’s “Si Una Vez,” the single off of the late Queen of Tejano’s 1994 Amor Prohibido album that was recently inducted into the Grammy Hall of Fame.
“Why did I perform with Cazzu? One of the reasons is the experience I gained working behind one of music’s greatest legends: Selena. It’s very difficult for a woman to break through — to reach No. 1 or carve out her own space in the market — and I understand that, so I came to support her,” Quintanilla explained in the video. “Secondly, I am a transparent and authentic person, and Cazzu — Julieta — operates on the same wavelength as I do. She is incredibly intelligent and serves as the producer of her own show … I congratulate Julieta because she sold out all her shows in the United States.”
Cazzu’s Latinaje Tour continues with more shows in Texas, as well as Miami, Mexico, Argentina, Uruguay, and Spain.
