Diego Semugera: Kitara unveil holding midfielder

Uganda Premier League side, Kitara has confirmed the signing of defensive midfielder, Missi Diego Semugera.

The development was confirmed today, Thursday, July 16, 2026 via the club’s official website.

“Kitara’s squad continues to take shape ahead of the 2026/27 season with the signing of Missi Diego Semugera,” the statement partly reads.

Semugera joins Kitara on a two-employment contract. This is after his three-year contract with SC Villa expired at the end of June after a decent campaign.

While at SC Villa, he made 67 appearances across three seasons. However the most outstanding in terms of success was 2023/24 when the club ended a two-decade title wait.

After putting ink on the dotted line Semugera expressed his excitement for joining a side that is going to compete on the continent.

“This is a new chapter for me and I’m excited that we’re going to compete on the continent with top teams. It’s a great opportunity to push myself further, and hopefully we achieve success together in the future,” he was quoted by the website.

“I have been playing against some of my friends in past seasons but now we’ll be teammates. I can’t wait to meet them and get started.”

He has previously played for sides like Friends of Lugazi, Lugazi Municipal FC, Police FC and SC Villa.
