Emtee’s Legal Battle Continues As Estranged Wife’s Family Alleges Years Of Abuse. Mthembeni “Emtee” Ndevu appeared briefly in the Midrand Magistrate’s Court on Monday as legal proceedings involving his estranged wife, Nicole Chinsamy, continued.

The court extended his R1,000 bail and postponed the matter to Friday to allow for further investigations into allegations that he violated a 2023 protection order.

The protection order reportedly prohibits Emtee from verbally abusing or harassing Chinsamy on social media. While the court appearance attracted significant public attention, it was Nicole’s mother, Rosslyn Chinsamy, who drew focus after speaking publicly about the family’s experience.

Speaking to TshisaLIVE outside the courthouse, Rosslyn said she could no longer remain silent.

“I’m very tired as a mom; it’s about time that I be there for my daughter and talk the truth.”

She claimed the Chinsamy family had spent years protecting Emtee despite their concerns, saying they had consistently treated him with respect but did not believe the same respect had been shown to their daughter.

Rosslyn also appealed to the rapper’s supporters to avoid making assumptions about the relationship, insisting that the public had only heard one side of the story.

“The public and his fans will see. As for the fans, they are not in this relationship. You do not know what is happening; there are two sides to a story, and my daughter’s side is definitely coming out. The fans should take a step back. You don’t have a clue what my daughter is going through. The abuse that’s been there for years.”

Nicole Chinsamy was seen leaving court following the proceedings, while her mother’s comments marked one of the family’s most direct public statements since the couple’s relationship became the subject of public scrutiny.

The case follows years of widely reported relationship difficulties, including allegations of abuse, social media posts showing bruises and damaged property, and a marriage that saw multiple separations and reconciliations. Emtee filed for divorce in April 2023, but the pair later reunited and welcomed a third child before separating again earlier this year.

The investigation has also reportedly expanded to include lyrics from Emtee’s recently released single Buya, featuring his girlfriend Nandi Ndathane. According to reports, printed copies of the song’s lyrics have been submitted as potential evidence because they reference repeated calls to the police and a refusal to welcome someone back.

Neither Emtee nor his manager, Hlubi Radebe, commented on the case.

As the matter returns to court on Friday, attention remains firmly on the legal proceedings and the serious allegations at the centre of the dispute. Rosslyn Chinsamy’s decision to speak publicly has added another dimension to the case, bringing renewed attention to her family’s claims while the court continues its investigation.
