By Zoila Palma: On May 21, 2026, the Football Federation of Belize (FFB), in collaboration with FIFA, officially launched the FIFA Amateur Football Environment Analysis Workshop at the FFB Training Room in Belmopan.
The two-day workshop focused on reviewing FIFA’s global amateur football analysis and assessing Belize’s current football environment as part of broader efforts to strengthen grassroots and amateur football development nationwide.
On day 1, FFB President Sergio Chuc, General Secretary Ian Jones, FFB directors, coaches, and regional staff from across the country gathered for a series of technical presentations and discussions led by FIFA Regional Technical Consultant Jorge Jimenez and FIFA Amateur Analysis Manager Javier Sanchez.
Sessions highlighted FIFA’s Global Amateur Football Analysis, Belize’s Amateur Football Environment and strategic discussions on key pillars for future football growth.
Based on the findings presented, FFB directors and technical leads engaged in meaningful discussions surrounding the current realities of football in Belize and mapped a way forward to improve the status of amateur football nationwide.
FFB noted that through this cross-analysis, participants were able to identify areas currently performing well, while also highlighting areas requiring stronger collaboration with key stakeholders and partners.
The discussions were heavily driven by data and research findings, which will support the Football Federation of Belize in developing future local strategic plans.
FIFA will also use the findings gathered globally, including Belize’s contributions, to help shape its upcoming international strategic framework for amateur football development.
FFB President Sergio Chuc noted that Belize’s football structure compares positively among more than 100 countries assessed through FIFA’s analysis, while emphasizing the importance of continued development and organization within the sport.
