France and Norway confirmed their round of 32 slots with 3-0 and 3-2 victories over Iraq and Senegal respectively in Group I at the 2026 FIFA World.
Kylian Mbappe once again scored twice (brace) in France’s 3-0 win over Iraq at Philadelphia stadium.
Ousmane Dembele added the other goal to subject Iraq to yet another defeat following the earlier 1-4 slip to Norway in Boston.
Marking his 100th appearance for France, Mbappe was again unstoppable, starring with two well taken goals in the 14th and 54th minutes.
Dembele capped the icing on the cake with yet another brilliant well worked out goal in the 66th minute.
Mbappe is now joint top scorer with Argentina’s Lionel Messi and Norway’s Erling Haaland.
This was France’s second victory after the 3-1 opening against Senegal at the New York New Jersey stadium on Tuesday afternoon.
Mbappe (two goals) and Bradley Barcola were on target for the French whilst Ibrahim Mbaye pulled the consolation for Senegal.

The other group I encounter witnessed African ambassadors Senegal fall 2-3 to Norway at the New York New Jersey stadium.
Haaland scored two goals and Marcus Holmgren Pedersen added the other for Norway who now have six points, same as France.
Senegal’s two consolation goals came from Ismaila Sarr.

Both Senegal and France are the latest countries to advance for the round of 32; joining co-hosts Canada and United States of America (USA), Germany and Argentina.
Group I last games:
Group I will close business on 26th June 2026 with the last two games on the same day, at the same timing.
Norway takes on France to determine the group leader at the Boston stadium in Foxborough.
On the same day, Senegal will face Iraq at the Toronto stadium in Toronto with hopes of fighting for the eight slots to advance for the round of 32.
