NICH supports 2nd National EdTech Summit

By Zoila Palma: The National Institute of Culture and History (NICH) participated in the 2nd National EdTech Summit, highlighting the importance of preserving Belize’s culture and identity as technology continues to transform education.

NICH said its participation reflected the guiding principle of Minister of Education, Culture, Science and Technology, Hon. Francis Fonseca, that “Culture is WHO and WHAT we are.” The institute said this principle continues to guide its efforts to ensure Belize’s heritage, creativity and identity remain central to the country’s digital transformation in education.

During the summit, NICH showcased exhibits and initiatives from the Institute of Archaeology, USpaces, Houses of Culture in Orange Walk, Corozal and Benque Viejo del Carmen, as well as the Belize Music Project. These initiatives demonstrated how culture can enrich learning, encourage innovation and inspire future generations.

NICH said it is working with the Ministry of Education, Culture, Science and Technology to promote a future where technology strengthens education while culture remains central to Belize’s national identity.
