By Breaking Belize News Staff: Police are investigating a shooting in Pomona Village that left two people injured on Tuesday evening.
According to police, the incident occurred around 6:30 p.m. on June 2, 2026, while 25-year-old Orlando Acosta and a 16-year-old male minor were standing outside a business establishment.
Initial investigations indicate that the victims were approached by persons traveling on two motorcycles. Police say one of the pillion riders produced a firearm and fired several shots, injuring both victims.
No motive has been established. However, police say they do not believe either injured person was the intended target. Investigators suspect another person who was in the group may have been the target.
Police have retrieved surveillance footage from the area and are reviewing it as part of the ongoing investigation.
