Award-winning Nigerian superstar Patoranking returns with a vibrant new single titled “Shake That,” featuring Afrobeats sensation Ruger. The infectious collaboration arrives as the latest offering from Patoranking’s forthcoming fifth studio album and showcases a lighter, more celebratory side of the artist following the powerful themes explored on recent releases such as “African Soldier” featuring Buju Banton and “No Jonze.”
Designed for dancefloors, summer parties, and feel-good moments, “Shake That” is an energetic Afro-dancehall anthem driven by an irresistible call-and-response hook, bright rhythms, and undeniable chemistry between two of Africa’s most recognizable voices. The song celebrates attraction, confidence, and the magnetic presence of a woman whose energy instantly transforms any room she enters.
Patoranking brings his trademark fusion of Afrobeats, reggae, and dancehall to the track, delivering smooth melodies and infectious patois-infused flows, while Ruger injects his signature charisma and swagger with a standout guest verse. Together, the pair create a playful and dynamic collaboration that captures the carefree spirit of summer.
Produced by GRAMMY Award-nominated hitmakers Yungwillis and Dwillsharmony, “Shake That” blends romance, appreciation, and club-ready energy into a record built to move audiences across continents. The release is accompanied by vibrant visuals directed by acclaimed filmmaker Dammy Twitch, known for his work with artists including Davido, DaBaby, and Yung Bleu.
Speaking about the single, Patoranking explained that after delivering the socially conscious and roots-driven “African Soldier,” he wanted to give fans a record that embodied joy and celebration.
“After ‘African Soldier’, I wanted to give my fans something for the summer. ‘Shake That’ is that energy. Ruger brought the vibes, and it was nice linking with Ikel Marvelous again. This summer we are dancing,” he shared.
The release follows strong momentum for Patoranking, whose collaboration with Buju Banton earned praise from leading publications including Billboard Africa, Jamaica Observer, The Tropixs, and GRM Daily. It also coincides with the announcement of his ‘Fire 2026’ European Summer Tour, which will see him perform alongside the acclaimed Fire Republik Band across the United Kingdom, Germany, the Netherlands, and Belgium, including a prestigious headline performance at London’s Barbican.
Over the past decade, Patoranking has established himself as one of Africa’s most influential musical exports. From his breakthrough hit “Alubarika” to global anthems such as “My Woman My Everything” and “Babylon,” he has built a catalog that has amassed more than two billion streams worldwide. His music seamlessly blends Afrobeats, reggae, and dancehall while remaining deeply connected to his Lagos roots.
Beyond his musical achievements, Patoranking has also become a leading advocate for youth empowerment through the Patoranking Foundation and his role as a United Nations Development Programme Regional Goodwill Ambassador for Africa, supporting education, entrepreneurship, and sustainable development initiatives across the continent.
With its infectious groove, star-powered collaboration, and universal appeal, “Shake That” arrives as a soundtrack for the summer and another reminder of Patoranking’s ability to create music that resonates across borders while staying true to his roots.
