Return of the Daredevil Run: Join the fight against cancer
A date has been set for the 2026 Hollard Daredevil Run, where runners raise cancer awareness. Let's bring you up to 'speedo' on the details!
Start warming up those purple Speedos, gentlemen! The date for the annual Hollard Daredevil Run, raising awareness around prostate and testicular cancers, has been confirmed.
In case you didn’t know, the Daredevil Run sees men from all walks of life taking to the streets across South Africa, running in nothing but these brightly coloured briefs and takkies.
By doing so, they are helping to raise awareness around cancer, specifically the types that primarily affect men.
DAREDEVIL RUN: ALL THE DEETS
This year’s edition – under the tagline “Lekker Balls; Lekker Life” – is scheduled to begin at 15:00 on Friday, 23 October 2026. Participants will gather at Zoo Lake in Johannesburg.
You have the option to conquer the five-kilometre run solo or tackle it alongside your friends, family or colleagues from work.
Although the main event will be held in Joburg, gents all over the country are welcome to register and run on their own routes in their respective cities or towns.
SPEEDO UP
Registration for the run opens next Wednesday, 1 July 2026.
Tickets will cost R200 each. These will soon be available to purchase on either Hollard’s official website or Ticketpro.
Afterwards, you will receive a Hollard Daredevil registration pack via courier. This will include a complimentary purple Speedo, which you will don on the day of the run.
CANCER AWARENESS
One in 16 men will be diagnosed with prostate cancer in their lifetime. As for testicular cancer, it is the most common cancer in young men aged 15 to 35. It affects approximately one in every 2 000 males.
All proceeds from the Daredevil Run will go towards funding prostate and testicular cancer screening for men from underserved South African communities, as well as patient support and promoting public awareness around these diseases.
The 2024 run saw R780 000 being raised, with Hollard topping up the amount to R1 million. Last year’s edition saw a whopping R1.2 million being raised. The proceeds were donated to both the Cancer Association of South Africa and the Prostate Cancer Foundation of South Africa.
So, are you ready to pull a ballsy move and help beat cancer? Then be ready to wear your purple Speedo with pride this October!
