After reviewing the 2026 Chevrolet Equinox ACTIV with all-wheel drive, I enjoyed it and looked forward to experiencing another trim, the EV RS. The presence of electric vehicles continues to steadily burgeon in the automotive industry, and this Equinox exhibits Chevrolet’s main focuses: bold styling, practical technology, impressive range, and everyday conveniences in a compact SUV.
At first sight, the RS trim gives the Equinox EV an edge in design, successfully boasting a sporty look fused in its muscular frame teamed with illuminated front light bar, flush door handles, roof rails, and 21-inch aluminum wheels. The animated LED lighting adds a touch of theater every time you press the start button.

Under the hood is an 85-kWh battery paired with dual-motor all-wheel drive for optimal mobility. The traction and smooth acceleration are standouts, while the power is adequate, listing 288 horsepower and 333 lb.-ft. On the charging side, the EV RS also supports 150-kW DC fast charging which is ideal for lengthy trips, while the 11.5-kW AC plug in keeps overnight home charging a reliable option. I quickly embraced the one-pedal driving option in Atlanta’s infamous traffic congestion due to one of the major benefits—reducing driver fatigue.

Similar to its other trims, the EV’s cabin has a modern feel and overall comfortable vibe for up to five adults. Upon entrance, the 17.7-inch infotainment display dominates the dashboard. I missed the CarPlay/Android phone mirroring, but Spotify was still available, along with the Google built-in functionality and Wi-Fi hotspot. The 11-inch digital driver display; wireless phone charging; ambient lighting; heated and ventilated seats; dual-zone climate control; and a heated flat-bottom steering wheel elevated the driving experience.

Addressing the major difference from the ACTIV model, the Equinox EV AWD reports a 103 MPGe average with up to 307 miles of driving range. Chevrolet estimates owners will save about $4,250 in fuel costs over five years compared to gasoline users, so there is some added value there.

My reviewed version sported the ACTIVE Safety Package 3 for $3,355. Although that may sound steep to some, those frequently on the road will appreciate a standout feature: the “Super Cruise” hands-free driving capability. More perks include adaptive cruise control, HD surround vision, blind zone steering assist, automatic emergency braking, and enhanced parking assist. Chevrolet also backs the SUV with an eight-year/100,000-mile battery warranty, adding peace of mind when driving off the lot.
This Equinox EV starts at $44,200 and reaches $54,745 including destination and all the optional equipment to enhance the driving experience. Ultimately, this electric SUV deserves some consideration if you are shopping in that segment.
