Now with the donation of two new motorcycles, the Maletsatsi Foundation says the programme continues to introduce more children to the growing motorsport development programme.
Johannesburg, South Africa (18 May 2026) – For many children, riding a motorcycle might just look like fun. But for the young riders involved in Team Zonke, it has become a story of confidence, belonging and the chance to discover what they are capable of.
That journey recently received another boost after two brand-new Husqvarna TC 50 motorcycles were donated to Team Zonke through the Maletsatsi Foundation, helping some of the programme’s youngest riders continue developing their skills both on and off the track.
Team Zonke uses off-road motorcycling as a way to help children living in alternative care build confidence, discipline and identity through structured training, mentorship and competition. Over time, the programme has become about far more than racing laps or chasing podiums.
Maletsatsi Foundation founder Tiffini Hein says for the children involved, it’s about learning to trust themselves again.
“When a child who has had very little control over their own life climbs onto a motorcycle and really rides, something shifts. They stop waiting to be told what they’re capable of. They find out for themselves.”
The programme has already seen several young riders competing at regional and national level, with some even collecting podium finishes along the way.
“Children deserve more than survival. They deserve opportunities to discover who they are, to challenge themselves, and to experience competence and pride.”
The newly donated motorcycles will now help introduce even more young riders to the sport, giving them the chance to begin their own journeys through Team Zonke’s development programme.
As the programme continues growing, the Foundation says support remains crucial to helping more children access opportunities within motorsport and development spaces that may once have felt completely out of reach.
