RS Berkane head coach Mouin Chaabani has insisted that his side are still firmly in the race for a place in the final despite suffering a disappointing result in the first leg of their tie against ASFAR.
The Moroccan club were left frustrated after failing to protect key moments in a closely contested encounter, but Chaabani believes the tie is far from over, stressing confidence ahead of the decisive second leg.
“There’s still the second leg, and we will try our best to overturn this result. We will give it our all,” Chaabani said after the match.
Reflecting on the performance, the RS Berkane coach admitted his team showed strong passages of play but were punished for costly errors in midfield.
“The match was difficult. We had an excellent first half, and the same in the second, but unfortunately we lost possession twice in midfield,” he explained.
Chaabani also acknowledged ASFAR’s efficiency in punishing mistakes, describing them as a side that thrives on opponents’ lapses in concentration.
“We know that ASFAR is a team that capitalises on opponents’ mistakes,” he added.
Despite the setback, RS Berkane remain confident of turning the tie around when both sides meet again in the second leg, with Chaabani expected to rally his squad for a more disciplined and clinical performance as they chase a place in the final.
