The latest trailer for Chrisopher Nolan’s newest film epic The Odyssey is here, and while the film won’t be released until July 17 this new look into the film is sure going to get audiences hyped.
The story of The Odyssey was originally written by the ancient Greek poet Homer which follows the story of the Greek hero Odysseus after the conclusion of the Trojan War (which is the focal point of the stories predecessor The Iliad) and his tumultuous ten year voyage home to his kingdom of Ithaca to save his wife and son.
While this is a trailer of short clips from the movie we get to catch a glimpse of the characters who shape the story as a whole, including Matt Damon playing the lead role of Odysseus, Tom Holland as his son Telemachus and Anne Hathaway as Odysseus’s wife Penelope. The main cast also includes the likes of Robert Pattinson, Charlize Theron, Jon Bernthal, Zendaya, Mia Goth and many more.
Along with the main cast of characters we also get a first look into the tremendous adventures Odysseus and his crew faces, including their iconic bout with the Cyclops Polyphemus and a possible new take on the crew’s encounter with the giant Laestrygonians in full menacing armor.
What makes this trailer even cooler is the fact that Nolan shot the film on IMAX cameras, making every shot more awe-inspiring than the last.
Christopher Nolan’s previous film, Oppenheimer (which also starred Matt Damon in a supporting role), has received tons of critical acclaim since its release, including seven Academy Award wins out of thirteen nominations. The film was also part of the cultural phenomenon Barbenheimer, in which both Oppenheimer and the Barbie film (directed by Greta Gerwig) received a simultaneous release, with many moviegoers seeing both as a double feature.
